March 15th at 11:00 AM, Dr. Eleanor Isaacson will be speaking at the World War II American Experience Museum. She is the author of “Dancing from Darkness”. Her autobiography reveals her fascinating life story of survival. Abandoned as a toddler in Nazi Germany, American-New Jersey born Eleanor Isaacson survived bombings, starvation, Russian occupation, and a stint as a child smuggler—all before reaching her teens. Escaping just as the Iron Curtain clashed shut, Eleanor soon discovered that “the land of the free” held as much pain and rejection as the life she had escaped. Deafness and solitude would become the catalyst leading to glorious womanhood, the love of her life, and the beauty of dance.
Returning to the USA at the age of 13 with neither knowledge of English nor family, she overcame almost insurmountable obstacles. She graduated with a double bachelor’s degree magna cum laude, has become a successful business entrepreneur, and has married renowned scientist Dr. Robert Isaacson. She is also a competitive ballroom dancer with more than 100 first-place wins! The lecture is included with museum admission.
