In a heartwarming display of global solidarity, Lucia Bruno, a dedicated blood donor originally from Italy, successfully continued her lifesaving tradition after relocating to Pennsylvania. Upon visiting the WellSpan Apple Hill Donor Center, Lucia utilized Google Translate to communicate her intention to donate blood. To further assist, the center provided a My Interpreter Assistant (MIA) device, which enabled real-time translation with an Italian translator at the push of a button.
Steve LaCour, the supervisor of laboratory blood resources, expressed his pride in helping Lucia donate blood in her new country. “Lucia knew how important it was that she donates, and we helped her achieve her goal,” he said. Lucia’s successful donation not only highlights her personal commitment but also showcases the donor center’s dedication to providing exceptional care to all, irrespective of language barriers.
