The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that a major pavement rehabilitation project will commence on Monday, March 17, on Route 581 in Cumberland County, spanning 7.14 miles between Interstate 81 and Interstate 83.
Scheduled for nighttime execution to minimize disruption, the project will involve lane restrictions in both directions of Route 581. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution when driving through the designated work zones.
The scope of the project includes concrete patching, diamond grinding, the replacement of two traffic counter devices, and other miscellaneous construction activities. The areas affected include East Pennsboro, Hampden, and Lower Allen townships, along with Camp Hill and Lemoyne boroughs.
Kinsley Construction, LLC, of York, PA, has been contracted for this extensive work, valued at approximately $15.48 million. The project is slated for completion by September 8, 2027.
