The award was bestowed upon Layman following her outstanding support for a patient undergoing a hysterectomy to remove multiple ovarian tumors. Layman’s exceptional measures included decorating the patient’s room with familiar photos and providing emotional support to the patient’s spouse, enhancing the patient’s comfort and easing their journey through treatment.
The patient, a nurse herself, praised Layman’s efforts, highlighting the significance of her empathetic approach to care. “Although she feels it is just her job, she deserves recognition for going above and beyond,” the patient remarked.
