Patriot Federal Credit Union has announced important updates for members who use Zelle, the peer-to-peer (P2P) payment service. Effective April 1, 2025, Zelle has discontinued its standalone app, meaning that transactions can no longer be processed directly through the app. Members who wish to continue using Zelle services must now access them through a participating bank or credit union’s online or mobile banking platforms.
Unfortunately, Patriot Federal Credit Union does not currently support Zelle integration within its mobile or online banking systems. This change may affect how members send and receive money. To assist members with alternative methods, Patriot offers several secure options for transferring funds:
- ACH Transfers: Members can set up both incoming and outgoing ACH payments with assistance from a Patriot team member.
- Mobile App ACH Transfers: Incoming ACH transactions can be directly set up via the Patriot mobile app.
- Online Bill Pay’s “Pay a Person” Feature: Allows members to send payments securely.
Members are also encouraged to consider other P2P payment platforms such as Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal, which operate independently of financial institutions and offer free, secure services.
Amidst these changes, Patriot Federal Credit Union remains committed to the security and financial well-being of its members. The credit union continues to explore new and innovative P2P payment solutions and emphasizes the importance of practicing safe transaction methods. Members are advised to use two-factor authentication, protect their login credentials, verify recipient details, transact only with trusted parties, and be wary of urgency scams.

These adjustments come as some banks and credit unions, including Patriot, decide against incorporating Zelle due to concerns over fraud risks, liability issues, and limited control over the service’s policies. Patriot Federal Credit Union is dedicated to keeping its members informed and equipped with the tools needed for secure financial transactions. For any inquiries or further assistance, members are encouraged to contact Patriot’s support team.
