The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has confirmed that the resurfacing project on Route 116 will resume next week. The project stretches from the intersection of Water Drive in Conewago Township to Elm Avenue in McSherrystown Borough.
Motorists will encounter lane restrictions with flagging operations primarily during daylight hours, although occasional night work may occur. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and stay alert while driving through the work zone.
This initiative includes milling, resurfacing, the installation of ADA-compliant ramps, guiderail updates, drainage improvements, new signage, and pavement markings. The ADA curb ramps were completed in the previous phase of the project, with the remaining work slated for completion this year.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc., based in New Enterprise, PA, is overseeing the construction. The project is budgeted at $1,864,000 and is expected to be completed by June 27, 2025.

For real-time traffic updates and road conditions, PennDOT encourages motorists to use the 511PA service, available online and via a smartphone app, which offers traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras.
Residents and commuters in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties can subscribe to receive traffic alerts and news directly from PennDOT District 8. Further information about ongoing and future projects can be found on the PennDOT District 8 Results and PennDOT Projects websites.
