The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the commencement of a highway sign replacement project starting next week as part of the ongoing Route 15 pavement preservation efforts in Freedom, Cumberland, Mount Joy, and Straban Townships in Adams County. The project, which spans 14.8 miles from the Maryland state line to the Route 394 (Shriver’s Corner Road) Exit, will involve various maintenance activities including diamond grinding, milling, and overlaying ramps and shoulders.
Scheduled work hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM beginning Monday, March 10, with necessary shoulder and intermittent lane closures. The contractor, New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., based in New Enterprise, PA, has been contracted for this work with a project budget of $8,318,599.
Motorists traveling through the affected sections of Route 15 are urged to exercise caution and adhere to all signage in the work zones for their safety and the safety of the road crews. For real-time traffic updates and road conditions, travelers can visit the 511PA website, which offers traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA services are also accessible via smartphone apps for iPhone and Android, or by calling 5-1-1.
