The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that all driver license and photo centers, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will close from Saturday, January 18, 2025, to Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Despite the closure, PennDOT’s online services will remain accessible, allowing customers to manage numerous tasks without visiting a physical location. These services include driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals, driver history services, changes of address, restoration letters, payment of restoration fees, duplicate licenses and IDs, REAL ID pre-verification, and driver exam scheduling. These online offerings are available 24/7 at no additional cost.
For those planning to use air travel on or after May 7, 2025, a REAL ID-compliant license or another federally approved identification will be required. Information on obtaining a REAL ID can be found at www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID.
Motorists looking to navigate major roadways can check conditions through www.511PA.com or the 511PA mobile app. This service provides traffic updates, weather forecasts, speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras.
