The concentrated collection for The Tide Your Soles ~ Their Souls Shoe Drive may have ended for this year, but there is still time to donate shoes before the truck arrives to pick them up to help get closer to reaching this year’s 10,000 pair goal.
Thanks to the generous support of more than 50 collection sites, which includes internal and community collections at many businesses/schools, service-time collections at churches, and countless individuals throughout Franklin County and beyond, this year has been another great success! To date, more than 7,000 pairs have been donated which will impact so many around the world. Special thanks also goes to Cubes Storage Solutions of Chambersburg for their sponsorship of the event by donating the use of a Cube to store the shoes for this year’s event.
You can still get involved in the effort by donating any new or gently worn pairs of shoes you no longer wear. Men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes of any make and style are appreciated, which will benefit microbusiness owners in 26 developing countries around the world through another organization who will pick up the shoes from The Tide office around the last week of April or the first week of May. Following the pick up, The Tide will receive a check for the shoes which will be used to fund their Literacy classes (one-third of which are children’s) to villagers in India who may not otherwise have another means to learn how to read and write in their own language.
